Non Nationally Recognised Training
This workshop is designed for My Flex Health International existing support workers in both the health care and home care industry but is also open to members of the general public that would like to increase their knowledge regarding the use of medications. It is a requirement of My Flex Health International that this workshop is completed annually before staff can manage medications.
Medication Administration is not the Medication Competency unit which is recognised as part of the Certificate IV in Aged Care.
This Medication Administration workshop comprises of both theory and practical components including a practical observation which is modified to meet the needs of individuals working in the health care industry in an aged care or home and community setting. The content includes knowledge of Legislation, Standards and Acts, general information about various types and effects of medication in the body, administration procedures, and is inclusive of documentation and reporting requirements for use of medications including inhalers, nebulised medications, patches, eye drops, ear drops, and tablets via Co-Sach and Webster pack systems.
As part of the workshop you will be required to demonstrate skills for prompting and assisting clients with their medications as well as documenting the procedure on medication charts. There will also be a written assessment to complete demonstrating your understanding and knowledge gained.
Duration 3 Hours
Workshops are held fortnightly on Thursdays 8:30am-12pm.
